The Steadfast Guide to Managing Care

Learning Resources

Public Libraries

Libraries now offer use of computers for internet research. There may be a small charge.

Also your local library service may have placed its catalogue on line, www.Devon.... which enables you to search for titles, by author, subject and to order books which are not held at your local branch library.

Further Education and University Libraries

Many colleges and universities will allow local people to register to use their library facilities. It may not be possible to borrow books, but reference library resources may be available.

Chartered Management Institute

The Chartered Management Institute has a specialist library of 1,000ís of management titles, available only to its members. You can register for student membership. The librarians will also help with reading lists and researching relevant articles. There are some charges for this service.

Training Departments

Large employers with learning and development teams often hold copies of books, articles, videos and cd roms which can be used for individual study. Ask for a list, or provide a list of what you are looking for.

Professional journals

Can have relevant articles for management study. Sometimes articles are displayed on the website, which avoids the cost of purchasing the journal.

Books

Try www.amazon.co.uk or www.ebay.co.uk to purchase secondhand or reduced price books.

Colleagues at work

Why not ask around - or send out an email - to fellow employees, to track down management books which they already have purchased?
