What is it to give birth in today's Bethlehem? Using real life stories, music and images, Al-Harah's engaging new play goes to the heart of a situation which is as absurd as it is appalling. Performed in English the play takes the form of a guided tour through Bethlehem, with the audience as the sight-seers. The tour includes a performance of the Nativity story. But the characters of Mary and Joseph soon encounter all the problems of present day Palestinians: the dividing wall and security checks. Al-Harah are based at Beit Jala, near Bethlehem. They create award winning theatre for adults and young people and have toured from New York to Japan. This special theatrical event is subject to visas being granted to the actors. This short UK tour includes London, Leeds, York, Manchester and Great Torrington.
