The English Concert

The English Concert

Director: Matthew Halls, Harpsichord

The English Concert continues to provide a benchmark for the authoritative performance of Baroque and Classical music worldwide, both with its artistic directors and the distinguished guest directors with whom it works. For more than thirty years it has been critically acclaimed in concert on four continents and in over 100 recordings of Baroque and Classical music for Deutsche Grammophon Archiv, Harmonia Mundi and Avie. The orchestra continues to be in great demand internationally, with annual tours of the USA and Australia and visits to Korea, Malaysia, Germany, Austria, Norway, Turkey, Poland, Switzerland and Hungary. In the UK they appear regularly at Wigmore Hall, Cadogan Hall, the South Bank Centre, and the BBC Proms. Support from the Arts Council South West has enabled the orchestra to visit Great Torrington.
