Spanish Accents'

Bassist Alec Dankworth's new quintet plays jazz with a Spanish flavour. It features Europe's leading musicians including one of Spain's finest drummer / percussionists, Marc Miralta, plus Mark Lockheart on saxes, Chris Garrick on Violin and Phil Robson on Guitars. Alec has arranged folk tunes from Spain, originals with a flamenco rhythm and compositions from Chick Corea, Dizzy Gillespie and Jack DeJohnette. The new CD ~ Spanish Accents ~ will be released on Basho Records in May. Alec Dankworth, joined the Clark Tracey Quintet, Julian Joseph Quartet and Nigel Kennedy's Wasp Factory. While living in New York he played with the Duke Ellington Orchestra and joined the Dave Brubeck Quartet. Alec performs with Cleo Laine, Jacqui Dankworth, Georgie Fame and Van Morrison. He has performed at Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, the Sydney Opera House the Royal Albert Hall and several times at The Plough Arts Centre.
