The Steadfast Guide to Live Entertainment

By Joe Orton

Presented by The Torrington Players. Directed by David Childs

Variously called 'a black farce masterpiece', and 'an outrageous comedy', Loot was first produced in London in 1966. There is no doubt it was aimed to shock mid 20th century Britain which still held strong views on institutions such as the police and the private health service. At that time most people held sacred their views on what should appear on stage as regards death and the process of mourning.
