John Williams can be regarded as a foremost ambassador of the guitar. He has toured the world playing both solo and with orchestra and regularly on radio and TV. Amongst his collaborations with other musicians, those with Julian Bream, Itzhak Perlman, Andre Previn, Cleo Laine, John Dankworth and Daniel Barenboim are particularly important. He often plays for films, such as "The Deerhunter" (Cavatina) and "A Fish Called Wanda". John Etheridge rightly enjoys a glowing reputation throughout the jazz world and beyond and has been described by Pat Metheny as, "One of the best guitarists in the world". He is a prodigiously gifted and creative player whose approach to music can only be described as 'eclectic'. He has toured and recorded with the iconic Stephane Grappelli. John Williams and John Etheridge will present a programme which features solo sets from each of them. They will join together for their own original compositions, for music from the African continent and specially commissioned pieces by the US guitarist and composer Benjamin Verdery. John Williams will be playing his classical guitar of course! John Etheridge will be playing his electric and acoustic steel string guitars. We are delighted to welcome the two Johns to The Plough. Book early for this very special event.
